The city from above

Ever wondered how a big South American city looks from above? .. well speaking for Lima it is crazy!

On Saturday we took a bus up the hill of San Cristobal to take a look. Like with every big city you see no end. There are more and more houses as far as you can see. But this view left me completely speechless. In this region there are lots of sandy hills and people have their poorly-built huts all the way up. In contrast you see skyscrapers close to the ocean with all the richer barrios like Miraflores. It is crazy how clear you can see the difference between rich and poor in this city. We had to drive through one of the “slums” to get up the hill and it was really sad to see what conditions people live in. Seeing Lima from this perspective definitely opened my eyes on how far poverty is spread around the city.
